Visa Bulletin Analysis: July 2026

The Department of State has released the July 2026 Visa Bulletin. Below is our analysis of the significant movements and how they compare to our predictions.

1. Prediction vs Reality

Where our model diverged from the actual bulletin (threshold: >14 days).

How to read these. These compare our next-month call against the actual bulletin. Final-action dates move in lumpy jumps — most months they don't move at all — so a "no movement next month" call is usually correct, and that's where many of these land. The harder, more useful test is the multi-month trajectory: on a 2016–2026 walk-forward backtest the model beats the naive "assume no change" baseline at the 6-month horizon and calls the direction of movement far more often than that baseline. We only score ourselves on the series we publicly predict (EB-1/2/3 China, India, and Rest of World); policy-driven categories (EB-4/EB-5) are excluded because we don't forecast them. Full methodology and the head-to-head backtest: How our prediction model works.
Confidence interval coverage: 18 of 25 predictions (72.0%) fell within our confidence intervals. Average CI width: 132.9 days.
